1. Holy crap -- Princess Irene!!
I haven't forgotten about her myself, though there has been so much craziness going on with the Araphel / Osh / Flann story and the Alred / Leofric / Hetty story and the Eirik / Sigrid story... She is simmering way, way back on the backest burner lately. Poor lady needs some time to recuperate, I think. She's come a long way. I was just beginning to think of maybe doing a chapter with her this month, but so far it's just a tiny idea.
She's staying at Britmar's lonely manor, and she didn't get invited to Nothelm for Xmas since Kraaia is there, and Kraaia + Andronikos = No. I don't know whether she has been invited elsewhere, but I guess she has refused so far if she has been.
2. Lena and Osh??
All we really know about Osh and Lena is that they can often be seen in the same room. Lena shows up in a ton of chapters where she doesn't say a word, she just stands around with or without Benedict in her arms and watches. At least she is allowed to stand.
What I know is that Osh has a certain affection for her that he deliberately keeps tepid as a matter of principal. But Lena is clean and well-spoken and so pretty and sweet... plus she is 1/2-good-blooded which makes her 50% more acceptable than Aia. So he has no problem talking to her or asking her to pass the salt or even joking with her (though never flirting with her), so long as she remembers her place.
I do think he has a real fondness for Benedict though. Back in "Benedict sees the Red Lady", Benedict was thinking:
Although he was permitted to step on Osh and even to dance upon his chest, Benedict himself did not like it when the cat stepped on him, and he had some idea that an entire lady stepping on one must be uncomfortable.
Osh does have a great fondness for babies. It's why I was a little sorry that the Aia chapter didn't go as I expected, because he was supposed to crack a smile at the baby's antics and show a side of himself to Aia that she hasn't seen now.

And you mentioned that Osh and Paul might not want Lena hanging around Aia since poor Aia is a low kisor
but do you think Lena would listen to them and not befriend Aia?
I would guess that Paul
Submitted by Lothere on Fri, 02/29/2008 - 16:48.I would guess that Paul calls Lena his friend by now. They got quite close when they were living alone together with Benedict in the old barracks. Lena used to give him advice and try to cheer him up when he got mopey and thought Cat would never come. And they were both trying to figure out how this baby creature worked.
I don't see Lena going out of her way to befriend Aia, but she's such a sweet elf that she wouldn't be snobby with her if they ever met. Lena is just so not rebellious that I don't think she would go to see Aia if she was told not to, or even if she knew she was expected not to.

A couple of questions that
Submitted by stacysaurus on Wed, 03/05/2008 - 00:23.A couple of questions that just sorta popped into my head:
How is "Kraaia" pronounced? In my head I automatically hear it as "Kry-yah" but I know that can't be right!!
So I was rummaging through that biography database and came across that Nina elf. Will she ever pop up in the story again? (I only ask because she is so purdy )
Hila and Kia -- will they ever pop up again? (not anytime soon I'm sure, but I wasn't sure if you permanently got rid of them or if they were just sorta put "on hiatus")
Any Dutch-speakers around?
Submitted by Lothere on Wed, 03/05/2008 - 07:29.Any Dutch-speakers around? I think it's pronounced more like Krah-ya or Kraw-ya. The aa is like short a, as in "fat", but pronounced for a longer time, as in "father".
Nina will be showing up at the end of December. She's Tashnu's concubine as you may recall.
Hila and Kia aren't gone for good, but I don't think we'll see them this month. The boys aren't even at home to meet with them -- even if the girls were allowed to go out, which they aren't. But with Egelric's late weirdness and other events surrounding the elves, I guess I don't even know anymore.
Totally resurrecting this
Submitted by stacysaurus on Sat, 01/03/2009 - 15:02.Totally resurrecting this dead thread!
My question is basically this-- did I miss an entry with Cecily and Caedwulf? The only one I can remember is the one where she was introduced, and then all of a sudden she is pregnant, and everybody except me knew she was preggerz. So I'm wondering if I missed an entry with them, or if everyone just randomly checks the bio pages or... something.
It's your thread -- you can
Submitted by Lothere on Sat, 01/03/2009 - 15:27.It's your thread -- you can do whatever you want with it.
No, sadly there have been no other chapters with Cecily yet. Devin REALLY jumped the gun with that plotline, and that's how we're all here, months later, already discussing who the child is going to marry and so on.
Thus far, if you just stick to the story, there's no reason to believe they've even slept together. We haven't seen Caedwulf or Cecily since that day.
Wow, and I remember that one
Submitted by stacysaurus on Sat, 01/03/2009 - 16:31.Wow, and I remember that one poll where we were all talking about whether or not she should show up more in the story, or when she would pop up in Lothere, and so on And now there's a baby on the way!!!
Another question I had is about Raedwald... He's still scurrying around, right? (I don't remember anything about him dying) I assume he'll pop up again, up to some no-good tricks?
And also, if there was a particular reason Cenwulf was killed off (he was my favorite of the original men, way back in the day!), like your reasons for killing Matilda and Sela.
Ah, nevermind on the Cenwulf
Submitted by stacysaurus on Sat, 01/03/2009 - 16:35.Ah, nevermind on the Cenwulf question, as I saw the response you had in the entry when Baldwin returns home!!

Yeah! What I said then! *cough* Cenwulf was your favorite? Really? That's... so sweet.
As for Raedwald, he's still alive and still up to his extraordinarily mysterious deeds. I don't have any specific plans for him in the near term, but Eirik is out to kill him, so there's always that potential. We'll also see the Baroness sometime next year, so she may know more (or he may even be in the neighborhood).
Generally speaking, Raedwald is my wildcard character -- good to have around in case I write myself into a tight spot. Raedwald has his finger in so many pies, I can shake up practically any storyline by bringing him into it.
Eh, just had a question
Submitted by stacysaurus on Mon, 02/09/2009 - 19:57.Eh, just had a question about Maire's uh... choice of weapons. Did she always intend to use that horse whip AND the knife, or was it kind of like... she just had the horse whip with her too and just whipped it out (har har) in the heat of the moment (ha!)?
I only ask because it seems like a strange and sort of awkward combination. Although I can totally see her wanting to use the whip if she thinks elves are beneath her... like animals, or something. Or did she use the whip first...? (because of that cracking sound that Kraaia heard)
I am very curious of the conversation Lena and Maire might have been having before all the killin'
I don't want to delve too
Submitted by Lothere on Mon, 02/09/2009 - 20:13.I don't want to delve too deeply into the mind of Maire, for story reasons, but she did strike first with the whip. Also, it wasn't a short riding crop like she might have had with her for her ride -- if Kraaia could hear it cracking, and just based on her description of it being long and swingy enough to be described as "something ropelike", it was a long whip such as you would use from the ground, so clearly not something she would have "just had with her". She had to have both deliberately taken it (probably out of the stable at home) and hidden it in her cloak.
I have a hard time imagining effective "whipsmanship" using one's left hand though, so I imagine she struck first with the whip in her right hand, and after a lash or two, passed it over to her left to take out her knife and start stabbing. After that the whip was probably more for random slashing than precision whipping.
YES I have to think about these things!

I noticed she has really crazy eyes. Well, I really like them , but none of her siblings have those etes so she looks kinda unique.
Also aplogize for poor typing and spelling. Terrible side oefefect of alcohol.

Submitted by Devin on Sat, 02/21/2009 - 04:58.maybe we might see her at maire's funeral.
She does have weird eyes.
Submitted by Lothere on Sat, 02/21/2009 - 06:40.She does have weird eyes. I'm not even sure where she got them. Maybe she is another Connie: strange eyes helping her see strange things...
Actually we will see her, according to my current schedule, on Saturday the 20th. I don't know how big a role she'll play in the chapter, but now that you've got me thinking about the uniqueness of her eyes I might want to do something special with her at some point. In any case she's the last daughter of Aed (unless Orlaith pops out another one) so she must be quite a popular young lady with the marriageable young men.

Submitted by Devin on Sat, 02/21/2009 - 06:57.We're finally going to get to see Scotland and the infamous Aed. It would have been better if it was under different circumstances.
It's not going to be under
Submitted by Lothere on Sat, 02/21/2009 - 07:00.It's not going to be under the circumstances you think, Devin. They could never get the news to Aed that fast -- especially in this weather -- even if a messenger had left the instant they found Maire. (Which none did.)

Submitted by Devin on Sat, 02/21/2009 - 07:06.Well good, Sigefrith can have have her executed and then send a messenger to Aed informing him of his dauther's execution.
Oooh, excitement!! I wonder
Submitted by stacysaurus on Sat, 02/21/2009 - 18:05.Oooh, excitement!! I wonder what is going to be going on over there that is not anything related to the whole Maire business.
I can't imagine Sigefrith
Submitted by Van on Sat, 02/21/2009 - 18:19.I can't imagine Sigefrith executing Maire without informing Aed of her crimes first. I don't know much about diplomacy, but something tells me that Sigefrith wouldn't dare do that.
Yeah I know, he has to
Submitted by Devin on Sat, 02/21/2009 - 18:37.Yeah I know, he has to inform Aed first. Damn, its going to take days for that wench to lose her head.
