Other Sims stories
Submitted by stacysaurus on Tue, 02/05/2008 - 16:36.
So I was wondering if there are some other good Sims stories that anyone here reads? There are a few others I read, but some of them either don't update too often or seem like they've died. Would like another story I can read during the times I can't get my Lothere fix Hahaha.
As for the ones I'm reading, I like Deception Pass, and I also used to read the stuff at Shana's Sims and Greetings from Mt. Geneva but both of those don't seem to update anymore.

There are a slew of stories
Submitted by Daine (not verified) on Tue, 02/05/2008 - 16:45.There are a slew of stories at Hullaballo Sims but they haven't updated in er, years. I still go there and read the stories, though.
Here's the link if you want it.

Submitted by Cassie on Tue, 02/05/2008 - 16:48.I love Deception Pass too. I still haven't read all of it, but it is SO engrossing.
I also read Verity's Kingdom of Mhalwae (that's actually how I got to Lothere - Mhalwae is linked on Shana's Sims site, which I've read for a long time). It hasn't been updated much lately, but it's pretty great. There are some other RKCs out there too.
Have you read anything by Mao? The current stories are Knock it Down and its continuation, Wings of Steel, which are both awesome, but she has other stuff too - an apocalypse challenge, a Desperate Housewife challenge, and I think an archived Black Widow and legacy blogs.
Hope those suggestions keep you busy for awhile, hee hee.
The only story I ever manage
Submitted by Lothere on Tue, 02/05/2008 - 16:55.The only story I ever manage to make time for and which is still updated fairly frequently (when Verity is not jetting around the world, that is) is The Kingdom of Mhalwae. If you haven't read it, you must start there.
I also have Taryn's story Ebureling Tales on the top of my to-read list. I've only read the first couple of chapters so far but it is wonderful. She's such a world-builder.
I admit I am mostly into medieval Sims stories... honestly, reading a Sims story set in modern days is really disorienting to me... like, there is pavement in game? Ceiling lamps and refrigerators? And jeans and cars? Plus reading medieval stories gives me ideas and tips about CC I may not have downloaded yet.
And as Cassie said, Mao's stories are definitely worth reading, even though I haven't kept up with WoS. (In spite of my adoration of KiD.)
I'm seriously hooked on
Submitted by Sonia on Wed, 02/06/2008 - 13:54.I'm seriously hooked on Taryn's stories.
I started one myself, but RL took over when I got a promotion. And everything ground to a halt, quite suddenly.
I have a couple of stories on the go at present though. One, Raven, is basically my favourite.
They're all found on my forum anyway. (Or at least my blog)

There are tons of stories out there, to many for me to keep up with. But heres the ones I try and keep up to date with.
Other than Lothere, and of course Sonia's stories (check out The Accursed on Cosy Corner - very interesting). I also read:

Legalos - A Legendary Legacy

The Day After Tomorrow Sim Style - An Apocolypse Challenge

Submitted by stacysaurus on Thu, 02/07/2008 - 06:49.Oh sweet, that's a lot of stories; I'll have to check them out!
I do read Wings of Steel, but I don't check it very often because I like to wait a long time and then go and have lots of stuff to read.
When I leave for Basic Training in April, I'll have LOTS to catch up on! I probably won't be able to read any until October at the earliest. *sigh* I'm saddened but excited at the same time, haha.

Submitted by Verity on Sun, 02/17/2008 - 06:24.Thanks for those who mentioned my site... it makes me really happy that some people like reading it
There's a whole heap of great sites out there I think have already been mentioned here and some that I like that haven't. I have up on my site The Kingdom of Mhalwae a list of the sites that I regularly check up on (well at least technically but I have been so bad recently with reading blogs and updating my own site... but the good news is I am back into it and there are 3 new recent posts up there). I haven't updated the list for a while so some of the links might be broken but I think they are still ok (let me know if you find something that doesn't work). Some haven't been updated for a while but I still live in hope that people will come back to their stories eventually (I'm looking at you Sydonie wherever you went... come back... I want to find out what happens ... no don't worry, I understand when RL gets in the way of writing).
It seems there are few sites I need to check out to so thanks stacysaurus, this was a really good idea

Submitted by Sonia on Tue, 02/26/2008 - 09:08.I know a really fantastic story writer. She's pretty shy and modest about her work, but what she's written is truly amazing.
She's used the Tinker family in Bluewater Village and come up with a story that revolves around Melody Tinker.
Here's a link to her blog

She's written 28 chapters so far.
I came across another story
Submitted by Taryn on Thu, 03/20/2008 - 00:18.I came across another story that I think is quiet cool. Its called Stangetown, Here We Come. I'm only about half-way, but so far I love the personalities she's given her sims. And the way she's working the the gameplay i.e they call themselves sims and not people.

Submitted by Cassie on Sun, 03/30/2008 - 07:08.I really, really love Strangetown, Here We Come. Personally, I love that hood, and I really love how character-driven her story is. There are good big plots and everything, but the real strength and focus is on the everyday, which I really love.
I'm addicted to sims blogs. Soooo addicted.

It's amazing what decorgal does with Sim video, and she and others voice the characters. The episodes are about 8-10 minutes long, and there are 12 out of the eventual 16 out so far. She also has some hacks and custom content available for download at http://www.decorgal.com/ .

I have been having problems with comment spam lately so maybe I accidentally deleted it along with that, but I don't think an already-published comment would have gotten stuck into the list of spam. I hope there isn't a problem with the forum. I was just about to move it to a new server, too.

Submitted by Lothere on Fri, 04/04/2008 - 19:31.Sorry guys. It was the spam blocker what did it. I am using Akismet to stop spam comments -- the same thing I'm using on Lothere with perhaps 3 false positives out of 6000+ spam it's caught for me -- and yesterday it spontaneously deleted both Jade's comment and all the comments that replied to it (and all the comments that replied to those, etc.). Which is extremely retarded. I'm going to keep a close eye on it over the next couple days and just disable it if it keeps it up. It is also too retarded to let me tell it to allow comments from registered users automatically pass through. Gahhhh!! *kick* *stab*

Submitted by Ingeli (not verified) on Sat, 10/04/2008 - 00:41.Lothere is amazing, a great source of inspiration I have a historical themed hood named Windlebridge, but my writing is not to compare, as English isn't my first language so I keep to documenting with pictures and small stories/glimpses of whats going on. Love your old nordic sims, as a Swede its a period of history close to my heart. I picked some kind of late medieval/renaissance/soon rococo period mainly because of the cc that existed at the time. I love the social/economic aspects of the game, and currently I am working on developing a system of more defined social classes.
Hi! Glad to see you here.
Submitted by Lothere on Sat, 10/04/2008 - 07:47.Hi! Glad to see you here. I am a little surprised no one mentioned your site here, actually, though I guess it's not technically a story in the same way as mine. I like to visit your site to drool over your neighborhoods... I've started building the village beneath Nothelm and the city of Dublin, and it's SO MUCH WORK just to build all the little houses, I am just in awe that you have built your incredible towns and still find time to play and blog about them. Windleport is an inspiration to me as I start working on Dublin, especially, with its harbor.
And wow we have a lot of Swedes (and one Australian expat) around here lately.

Submitted by Ingeli on Sat, 10/04/2008 - 10:04.I love the building, even if I sometimes am dying to get to play when it takes a lot of time - sometimes I download houses, thinking, oh, now I can use them instead of building and then I end up working even more on redoing them.. There will be a lot of work redoing houses now for the apartment system, which looks very promising because you can play bigger more demanding lots with lots of things going on there, very good for cities.
My castle in Windleport for example will be all owned by the lord, and everyone will pay rent to him, I am hoping a lot for the ne landlord mod being developed now by Inge Jones at Simlogical.
Sometimes I do get jealous
Submitted by Lothere on Sat, 10/04/2008 - 12:44.Sometimes I do get jealous of people who *PLAY* the game... some of the mods are totally useless to me, like the school controllers and the nannies and all those things... and yet they sound so intriguing. When I *played* I only had the base game + Nightlife, so I've never even sent a Sim to university, much less had a shop or garden or whatever. And when I go on sites like yours or Jade's, I get so inspired to make a real town/city with the kinds of interactions that various people and social classes have which each other. Everything my Sims do is so "fake" and staged now... I just make them do whatever it takes to get the picture.
At least there are sites like yours where I can vicariously have fun with some of the cool features of the expansion packs and mods. Good luck with your apartment system, I get excited just reading about it. I was such a micro-manager when I played, that is right up my alley.

Submitted by Verity on Sun, 12/21/2008 - 10:08.I hope you don't mind if I advertise here Lothere and if you do just scrap this comment. But I just wanted to say that I am actually posting on my site again so for all the people who read Mhalwae and also frequent this forum (which is the majority of my readers) there is a new chapter out and I am intending to get back into writing again and have more chapters up soon. I have a tonne of stuff happening for Arran's birthday which should be lots of angsty fun so pleeeease forgive me and come back. I promise to try not be bad and neglectful of poor old Mhalwae again.

Submitted by PenelopetheFox on Sun, 12/21/2008 - 13:11.Oh Verity, you don't have to worry about us not reading. Personally, I've been following since February and have no intention of stopping. And I know I never comment! But I'll start. I'm too shy to comment on most of the stories I read. In fact, the only reason why I started commenting on this one was because of my overpowering desire for MOAR VASH.
Hmm maybe I should put that on a sim t-shirt.

Submitted by Verity on Tue, 07/07/2009 - 12:31.So once again... self-advertising here but I figure since pretty much all of my readers are floating around on this forum it is a good place to say it. But Mhalwae is up and running again! Hurrah! With a new theme and all. And I have been writing like a madman these last weeks when it has been swapping servers and themeorising and all those sort of things so I am going to try and update heaps. Lots of editing to do though but I really want to post more regularly now. And I need to catch up with reading pretty much everyone's blogs. I think my googlereader needs a big makeover.
Sorry, I should probably add
Submitted by Verity on Tue, 07/07/2009 - 12:47.Sorry, I should probably add that I have now realised that for some reason it is going back and forth between the old and new sites. Something to do with dns says the computer savvy boy, if that makes sense to any of you guys. So if you don't see it, or only see it briefly don't worry. It will stop flitting around soon I hope. I probably won't make a new update till then (especially since it is a bit difficult as it keeps reverting back to the old and then kicking me out of admin and telling me I don't have the password). So weird.
