"You have an elegant nose, sir, and I should like to think it would appear on some descendant of mine. But yours is very cute as well, Kiv."
I will "Alwy" love you

Sometimes I check out my site stats to see what pages are most popular and where people are coming from, etc. My favorite part of that experience is looking at the top search terms people used to find the site. About 1/4 of them are creepy (though I love that someone found my site by searching for "naked elf"... surprise!), and about 1/2 of them are interesting ("gray eyes" has been a popular one lately!), but today I found one that was almost poetic:
i will alwy love you
A mispelling, of course... or was it? *sniffle*
Oh, Alwy!

I miss Alwy...that's so sweet!
Oh Alwy. He was a gentle
Submitted by Sonia on Wed, 02/06/2008 - 13:44.Oh Alwy. He was a gentle giant, a rock to which a few people clung to, basically.
Yes, he will be missed terribly. Gunnilda should really appreciate all that he did for her. I know I would. *sniff*
Gunnilda does appreciate
Submitted by Lothere on Wed, 02/06/2008 - 15:08.Gunnilda does appreciate him... I think I have had her look back on him with extra fondness a few times. Didn't I have her think once that she wished he could come up from behind the barn just one more time? Or maybe that's just me...
As Osric said when he died: "Alwy was a real big man."
No, you did. It was when
Submitted by Cassie on Wed, 02/06/2008 - 16:00.No, you did. It was when Bertie was saying he used to hate it when Alwy kissed her, and she wanted to say that sometimes she hated it too - but she would give so much just to see him coming home to her, and she would kiss him then as she "always should have done." I think she also reflected at some times that Alwy was more deserving of her affection than Ethelmund, and that she felt jealous for his sake that her kids loved him so much.
I just read that, like, 2 days ago, and I have a very good memory, so I remember it better for all that, lol.
Thank you, Cassie! I
Submitted by Lothere on Wed, 02/06/2008 - 17:39.Thank you, Cassie! I thought of asking you, but I didn't want to send you scurrying off to search in case you didn't know. I have better search abilities than you with my database fu. It was in "Gunnilda gives her blessing" when she's talking to Bertie on the eve of his knighthood:
Oh, to see Alwy come home from the fields again! There just hasn't been another Alwy. *sniffle* *sniffle*
Aww. I was reading through
Submitted by Cearbhaill on Wed, 02/06/2008 - 18:20.Aww. I was reading through old posts the other day and thinking about how much I miss him. *sniffle* He was so simple and sweet yet wise.
Lothere, I know you've
Submitted by Cassie on Fri, 02/15/2008 - 10:00.Lothere, I know you've explained why you've killed several characters, but why did you kill Alwy?
Haven't I? If you don't
Submitted by Lothere on Fri, 02/15/2008 - 10:22.Haven't I? If you don't remember (or I don't) it's probably because I had nothing intelligent to say. I didn't have a good, well-thought-out reason for killing Alwy. I believe I was thinking that since Egelric was a bachelor again, it might be interesting if Gunnilda were free too. But I didn't really put any thought into it, which I should have done before taking such a drastic step. I should have already thought about whether and how they were going to get together.
In the end, of course, Lili showed up a few months later and sort of tricked Egelric into marrying her. I think that storyline worked out rather well -- both the arrival of Lili into Egelric's life, as well as Gunnilda's shock at learning of it. She was clearly expecting something to happen, or at least hoping. And once Egelric was taken, she found herself settling for Ethelmund.
So that near miss was a nice twist, I think. The Lili episode would have been less poignant if Gunnilda could not have had Egelric anyway. (And Lili herself thought of that when she learned of Gunnilda's marriage to Ethelmund.)
However, the fact remains that Alwy is dead. And I miss Alwy. There is a big hole in my cast of characters where an Alwy should go.
And if I were Ethelmund, I would be taking good care of my health at the moment. Just sayin', given my past history. Or he should be hurrying to fix up Egelric with some other girl.
How DID everyone find this
Submitted by PenelopetheFox on Fri, 07/04/2008 - 09:08.How DID everyone find this website? I was looking for custom content and somehow Lothere popped up. I wonder what my search terms were. I kinda like the fact that this is a difficult place to stumble upon and a story so long that you must have a real interest to get through it. These are great deterrents for internet weirdos.
I hope you don't mind me
