I hate him, my past comments sums up just how I feel.

I was so torn with this one that I chose 'all of the above'.

Lar has some redeeming qualities about him and a sensitive side that he rarely shows, only in the presence of Seven.

However, that doesn't justify all the bad crap that he's been doing of late. But there again, his rag tag band of renegades are fighting for survival.

Until then, I'll remain impartial until the time comes when he redeems himself (if ever).

I, too, do not want to make out with him. But I do hate and love him all at once. He's trying to preserve the livelihood of his people and he can be so precious with Seven. But then you think of what he's done to Cat (and wanted to continue doing) and even his own family like Sela. But that's the thing about Lothere: everyone is so much more than this or that.

I voted "love him", but to qualify my vote, I:

- Love him
- Want to make out with him (*joins the island*)
- Then lock him in a room with pre-Cian Dantalian

Yeah I was wondering whether that was what Seiza meant too. *worries*

If stabby is a word, rapey can certainly be a word. I like it. He's not a rapist, per se... just a little rapey.

Seriously, though, in Lar's case, while he is a rapist according to the definition of the term, there's something different about him vs. Imin, say. To Lar it's a weapon, as rape has usually been in warfare, ever since tribes of cavemen battled other tribes. It has to fit into his strategy of attack, or he doesn't do it.

Lately, though, I think he is coming to the conclusion that it is a dangerous weapon and just as likely to swing back and slice the one who wields it. He went around raping women all those years back to get back at the men for taking Sela, and he ended up siring Gils. He raped Cat and that got Khara killed, and eventually Surr and Mash though he hasn't made that connection. And little Matilda... we will have to see whether anything comes of that, but it did at least mark a turning point in the relationship between Lar and Imin. (Which may have been the purpose, as far as Imin was concerned.)

No, I didn't mean among the men... I meant among the noble elves. I have hinted that before, in "Surr sees his father's friends":

“Wait!  Iyyis is the one in the Khor’s kitchen?”

And perhaps elsewhere too. That is also how Teodru ended up with a daughter among the khírrón (Nina) and another among the kisór (Hila). He eventually got found out, however, which is how he ended up living with Lar in the tunnels, and also how he got the scars on his face and ended up kind of dim-witted, as we saw in his last minutes.

Unlike Hila, Nina knew who her father was, though she never knew him personally. She grew up in the "harem" with Lena and the others. I guess we will learn more about her later.

Hila used to want to go live with the nobles. In "Hila sees the most high" I wrote:

Hila’s father’s father, it was said, had been a mighty prince of olden times.  She had always dreamt that when at last she met his people, they would know her.  In her dreams they saw that she was not like the other girls, and they said, “Come with us.  You are one of us.”  In her dreams she had fine dresses, she rode horses, and she ate sweets every day.  No one ever called her a gawky half-breed.

I somewhat doubt she still does, though.

I thought I was the only one who did that. It still doesn't help me find the creator when people ask me (good to know that Lar's hair is by Seomi) but at least I can find the file.

Which dress is "Gwynn's dress"? She keeps changing her clothes. The one most associated with her in my mind is her green formal "bumpy dumpling dress", which she is still wearing a year later at slightly less formal occasions. But I am determined to put her in a new dress for the upcoming dance. Now that she is a year older and a little taller, she is looking less bumpy, but damn, stand her up next to Connie and she is miniscule.

No, Alred is back to his old trick of giving inappropriate gifts to other men's wives. Actually now that I look at it, it may be the same style of necklace and earrings that he gave to Gunnilda. If so, oops. Let's hope they never meet to compare. Busted!
