The computer scientist in me
Submitted by Lothere on Fri, 04/11/2008 - 04:09.The computer scientist in me is twitching because I haven't fully covered the combinatorics of the question. (What if you don't hate him but you still love him and want to make out with him? But is that possible???)
So after voting add any nuance you see fit by way of comments.
I hate him, my past comments
Submitted by Devin on Fri, 04/11/2008 - 06:35.I hate him, my past comments sums up just how I feel.

Submitted by Lisa on Fri, 04/11/2008 - 08:49.I hate him when he's being a prick. I love him when he's with Seven. I don't really want to make out with him, but that option wasn't available, so I chose "all of the above".
I was so torn with this one
Submitted by Sonia on Fri, 04/11/2008 - 13:28.I was so torn with this one that I chose 'all of the above'.
Lar has some redeeming qualities about him and a sensitive side that he rarely shows, only in the presence of Seven.
However, that doesn't justify all the bad crap that he's been doing of late. But there again, his rag tag band of renegades are fighting for survival.
Until then, I'll remain impartial until the time comes when he redeems himself (if ever).

Submitted by Alice on Fri, 04/11/2008 - 15:34.I think I pity him more than loving him or hating him. Same sort of feeling with Dantalion...we know they can be evil, but also why they're that evil. I don't really want to make out with him, though. Lar is attractive, but I wouldn't call him hoooot like Malcolm. I, too, chose all of the above. Yay Lar!
This is off topic, but Dantaion and Eithne really remind me of V and Evie from the movie V for Vendetta.
I, too, do not want to make
Submitted by Choco on Fri, 04/11/2008 - 17:09.I, too, do not want to make out with him. But I do hate and love him all at once. He's trying to preserve the livelihood of his people and he can be so precious with Seven. But then you think of what he's done to Cat (and wanted to continue doing) and even his own family like Sela. But that's the thing about Lothere: everyone is so much more than this or that.

Submitted by Cassie on Fri, 04/11/2008 - 17:54.Apparently, the author and myself are kind of an island in the "want to make out with Lar" camp. There's just something so haughtily sexy about his profile, and I just love the way he carries himself.
My other feelings about Lar are complicated. I certainly think he's a very, very interesting character. At times (like when he raped Cat) he seems irredeemable. But when Dasi died and he realized he had just lost everyone in the world who had ever loved him, well, that just broke my heart. And when he throws himself on his friend's bleeding body to cry...just agonizing. Really.
I voted "love him", but to
Submitted by Seiza on Fri, 04/11/2008 - 18:22.I voted "love him", but to qualify my vote, I:
- Love him
- Want to make out with him (*joins the island*)
- Then lock him in a room with pre-Cian Dantalian

Submitted by Cassie on Fri, 04/11/2008 - 18:51.I always thought a little Lar-Dante lovin' would be pretty hot anyway.

Submitted by Lothere on Fri, 04/11/2008 - 20:36.Yeah I was wondering whether that was what Seiza meant too. *worries*
Is Dre / Lar OK or does Dante have to be black and batty?
(I'm not taking requests or anything, just wonderin'.)
Gratuitous shots of Lar's profile, just so you can see what those of us stranded on the desert island with Lar have to look forward to:

I chose "hate him" because I
Submitted by Karen on Sat, 04/12/2008 - 06:07.I chose "hate him" because I don't particularly like him, and I definitely don't love or want to make out with him. I think I've said on the forum before how I dislike him for the rape and things, but I do understand that he's fighting a war of sorts and that he's not ALL evil or anything; as others said above, he is really cute with Seven. So I don't hate, love, or want to make out with him. I just want him to be nicer and less rapey.
If "rapey" isn't a word, I'm making it one.
If stabby is a word, rapey
Submitted by Lothere on Sat, 04/12/2008 - 06:32.If stabby is a word, rapey can certainly be a word. I like it. He's not a rapist, per se... just a little rapey.
Seriously, though, in Lar's case, while he is a rapist according to the definition of the term, there's something different about him vs. Imin, say. To Lar it's a weapon, as rape has usually been in warfare, ever since tribes of cavemen battled other tribes. It has to fit into his strategy of attack, or he doesn't do it.
Lately, though, I think he is coming to the conclusion that it is a dangerous weapon and just as likely to swing back and slice the one who wields it. He went around raping women all those years back to get back at the men for taking Sela, and he ended up siring Gils. He raped Cat and that got Khara killed, and eventually Surr and Mash though he hasn't made that connection. And little Matilda... we will have to see whether anything comes of that, but it did at least mark a turning point in the relationship between Lar and Imin. (Which may have been the purpose, as far as Imin was concerned.)
Ooh so that explains why Lar
Submitted by Devin on Sat, 04/12/2008 - 09:44.Ooh so that explains why Lar and his men went on a raping rampage back in 1079. To get back at the men for taking Lady Sela.
I was surprised when you mentioned that Lar had agents among the men. Did he have them after Sela went to live with the men?
No, I didn't mean among the
Submitted by Lothere on Sat, 04/12/2008 - 15:10.No, I didn't mean among the men... I meant among the noble elves. I have hinted that before, in "Surr sees his father's friends":
And perhaps elsewhere too. That is also how Teodru ended up with a daughter among the khírrón (Nina) and another among the kisór (Hila). He eventually got found out, however, which is how he ended up living with Lar in the tunnels, and also how he got the scars on his face and ended up kind of dim-witted, as we saw in his last minutes.
Wow, so the noble elves
Submitted by Devin on Sat, 04/12/2008 - 15:32.Wow, so the noble elves aren't that safe as I thought. I was wondering how Teodru came to have a daughter among the khirron. I doubt if she knew her father. And poor Hila wants or probably used to want to live among the noble elves, her and Kia's story will prove to be very interesting one day.
I bet Lar had one of his agents spy on Vash.
And Shosudin's wife Dara is the first cousins with Nina I just noticed that.
Unlike Hila, Nina knew who
Submitted by Lothere on Sat, 04/12/2008 - 15:52.Unlike Hila, Nina knew who her father was, though she never knew him personally. She grew up in the "harem" with Lena and the others. I guess we will learn more about her later.
Hila used to want to go live with the nobles. In "Hila sees the most high" I wrote:
I somewhat doubt she still does, though.
Wonder (and worry) no more!
Submitted by Seiza on Sun, 04/13/2008 - 01:55.Wonder (and worry) no more! Cassie hit the nail right on the head
Smooth Dre or black-and-batty Dante, it's all good to me! Although if based on history, I'd have to go with Dre / Lar. I still cackle over the image of naked Lar+necklace in one corner of the world, and madman!Dre-Dante in the other.
Gratuitous pics FTW. *hearts*
(I renamed the folder for that hairstyle to "Seomi - Lar's Hair" since I've come to associate it with him so much. Same with some of the other clothing-- "Gwynn's Dress", "Gunnilda post-Alwy Dress". Lothere is in ur gamez, changin ur file names )
I thought I was the only
Submitted by Lothere on Sun, 04/13/2008 - 06:28.I thought I was the only one who did that. It still doesn't help me find the creator when people ask me (good to know that Lar's hair is by Seomi) but at least I can find the file.
Which dress is "Gwynn's dress"? She keeps changing her clothes. The one most associated with her in my mind is her green formal "bumpy dumpling dress", which she is still wearing a year later at slightly less formal occasions. But I am determined to put her in a new dress for the upcoming dance. Now that she is a year older and a little taller, she is looking less bumpy, but damn, stand her up next to Connie and she is miniscule.
What was this topic about again?
Oh, right: gratuitous Lar / Dre pics.
Flann looks great in her new
Submitted by Devin on Sun, 04/13/2008 - 07:42.Flann looks great in her new dress, and did Osh give her that neckalace.
Hopefully on day Aia will wear dresses as fine as Flann and Cat's.
Gwynn is surely growing up Finn better start making his move.
No, Alred is back to his old
Submitted by Lothere on Sun, 04/13/2008 - 07:50.No, Alred is back to his old trick of giving inappropriate gifts to other men's wives. Actually now that I look at it, it may be the same style of necklace and earrings that he gave to Gunnilda. If so, oops. Let's hope they never meet to compare. Busted!
Alred.... He is so on
Submitted by Devin on Sun, 04/13/2008 - 07:56.Alred.... He is so on probation becuase of his prejudice against Aia and he's one of the reasons why Egelric is spiraling out of control.
But anyway I'm looking foward to this party.
*fans self after looking at
Submitted by Lisa on Mon, 04/14/2008 - 05:52.*fans self after looking at Lar & Dre* That is sooooooo instense. You can just feel the sexual chemistry pouring off of them.
Yep, I keep separate
Submitted by Seiza on Mon, 04/14/2008 - 06:05.Yep, I keep separate folders for every download and a pic to go along with it, so I have to come up with names for the folders. Calling it "Gwynn's Dress" sounds better than just "Green Dress", especially for sites like Parsimonious that don't always name their items.
This is what I've christened as "Gwynn's Dress" (it's from Parsimonious, under Themes - 1600... yep, I keep track of that stuff too. I think I spend more time reorganising my downloads than playing the game ). I dunno why I came to associate it with Gwynn the most, but I know I can't see it on any other sim anymore without thinking of her.
And-- YUM. How you spoil me, Lothere!
Too bad Dantalion recently
Submitted by Lothere on Mon, 04/14/2008 - 06:11.Too bad Dantalion recently discovered Cian is straight.
That is indeed a shame.
Submitted by Cassie on Mon, 04/14/2008 - 08:49.That is indeed a shame.
Wouldn't it have been funny
Submitted by Lothere on Mon, 04/14/2008 - 08:53.Wouldn't it have been funny if he had gone through all that trouble and gotten himself married to Eithne... only to find that Cian was gay?
*cracks up* That would be
Submitted by Seiza on Tue, 04/15/2008 - 19:33.*cracks up* That would be PRECIOUS.
Dantalion doesn't seem like the sort whose plans always go awry in the most hilarious ways (and yet...)...
But that. Would've been. Awesome. And not because I'm so biased to slash. (Really. )
I guess he lucked out that Cian's straight, but put that together with Araphel's mess-up and the lesson is clear: do your research before choosing dead bodies!
