So a friend (who also reads Lothere) and I were watching "What a Girl Wants" tonight (even though we're 25) and as we were both tipsy on mead (no joke) we declared that the actor, Oliver James, could be Malcolm. Take a look:

Oh wow this thread is expansive! *cough* But it's woken my inner-nerd-- I love doing this sort of thing. I used to do a lot of text-based journal games on GreatestJournal (and more recently InsaneJournal) and I'd help my friends find those perfect faces for their characters. *rubs hands together*

1. Firstly, I don't know if anyone has suggested her, but I could totally picture Romola Garai playing Ilyaine. Blonde haired, blue eyed, and she's just got this vibe about her. I absolutely adore her since she has such great expressions going all across the board of emotions.

Anyways, another choice I'd give out for either Leila or one of the Scotswomen (potentially Maire would be my first pick IMO) is Melanie Doutey. She's a french actress and, again, some good facial expressions. Maybe a better Leila than Maire? I'm undecided. Perhaps someone else? I mean, she's too cute NOT to include her in my list!

5. Okay, again with the hair, but, honestly, Dougie Poynter could potentially pull off a Vash. Sure, he doesn't do brooding often enough, but he makes it up in being eye candy in that sort of slightly-punk rocker kind of way XD

6. I've seen a lot (or maybe just a few? There are so many comments here) of suggestions for who should play Egelric. So of course I have to throw my two-cents in for the guy who has been one of my favourites, despite how he's acting now. My vote would go with Richard Armitage (best known at the moment for his role as Guy of Gisborne in the BBC's Robin Hood). I mean, COME ON, he's got the broody expressions, built body, AND the nose! Sure his coloring needs to be darker but otherwise he fits.

7. I think Jodelle Ferland could make a great Paleia. Perhaps a bit of an older Leia but still, I saw her and my brain went to Leia. Sure, coloring's off but so are a few of my other suggestions.

My mom usually chuckles at my watching that show (I can't help it, it's such a fun guilty pleasure) and she came upon me watching it and said, "Wow. WHO is THAT? He is...really, really, really good-looking." I'm not usually one for pretty boys, but goddamn.

As much as I say I am not gooey-eyed over Vash, I cannot help but cast him with my all time favorite celebrity crush...Zac Efron. I believe Zac would pull off the role of Vash flawlessly. Perhaps then I will unconditionally fall into the Team Vash wagon.
I love Emma Watson, too, but I feel that her look matches Gwynn better, although that would be a complete waste of her intelligence to portray Gwynn's personality. Which unfortunately brings me to another tangent....(oh boy, here's yet another one of Vness's endless rambling..cover up your ears, children ...) Gwynn was one of my favorites growing up, and I had really high hopes for her... and then she shatters that hope with her persistent "how romantic" everything is, which completely baffles me. *shaking my head in disgust*
Anyway, back to the subject...yes, Zac Efron as Vash...hmm, that means Jenny will have to create The One for Vash, for we cannot let that perfection of a guy (Zac) go to waste (which most definitely may NOT be Iylaine). Now that I think about it, I want to see how Emma and Zac will be like onscreen together as a couple Yup, sounds like a winner! Actually, Zac could very well fit Finn's role, too. Dare I mention possibly Vanessa Hudgens might make a good Gwynn?
Malcolm wise, maybe Robert Pattinson? (Only because I'm currently obsessed with the Twilight saga and I have to see more of the hotness ) I would say Taylor Lautner because his coloring closer matches Malcolm, but Taylor is a bit on the young side, which unfortunately does not fit my vision of a mature Malcolm. As far as Iylaine goes, I was thinking Hilary Duff, but who knows? Maybe Kristen Stewart? She's certainly fair enough to look elfin. I just have a crazy thought of Orlando Bloom as Dunstan and Keira Knightley as Britamund and is now cracking up maniacally of the idea of having all my favorite celebrity couples in the cast. HEHEHEHE

Personally, I kind of find Gwynn's obsession with romance rather refreshing. Like, I'm all for feminism and all that, but it seems to me like a lot of people these days don't really understand what feminism is, or was supposed to be, or they've totally blown it out of proportion. Like, I know so many girls who are all "men are so useless" and "we don't need men in the world", who call themselves "feminists", but if you ask me, feminism should really be more about equality between the two sexes. Like, not saying Gwynn needs a man, but it's nice to encounter a female character who would never in a million years think of swearing them off.

Of course, the Kingdom of Lothere is probably a much friendlier place for women than a real eleventh century kingdom would have been.

But that's just me. I have rather strange views of many things. I'm probably rather messed up as a result of nine years of pro-abstinence, sex-is-for-married-people-only private school, but I won't spam the forum with that story.

Thanks Cassie! I couldn't agree more about Gael Garcia Bernal! But Andronikos...well he creeps me out a bit. Have we actually had his POV in any chapters? There's quite a lot of depth in him isn't there? I can never tell what he's thinking, he's so unpredictable. But I suppose it's the whole impression from seeing him attack Kraaia, and be slightly too controlling of Irene.

This thread has been among my favorites for so long now, I had to resist the urge of reading too much into it, or commenting when I hadn't caught up and might end up looking a little stupid or finding a spoiler. Yet, if there is any thread deserving of revival - this is it!

Yeah, you're probably right on Amy Nutall (I wasn't totally sure about her). Rebecca Mader plays Charlotte Lewis in Lost, but she's only in a couple episodes so that's probably why you don't know her.
