Random Silliness: The Great Lothere Casting Call!!
Submitted by Van on Sun, 12/07/2008 - 23:17.
Okay, this is only slightly insane, so bear with me here.
So I was reading over some of the old Sigefrith/Eadie chapters when my brother came in and asked if I wanted to watch Lord of the Rings with him. I said okay, and so we watched it, and all the while I kept thinking "Hmmm, Viggo Mortensen would be a good Sigefrith". Has that ever happened to anyone else?
So now I'm curious to know who people would cast if Lothere was ever made into a movie. Anyone care to play this little game?

He doesn't have the bump, but his nose is still sort of large. And he's hot. I looked him up on imdb.com and discovered that he's older than me, so I don't have to feel guilty for finding him so attractive.

Submitted by star on Tue, 01/20/2009 - 11:30.Oh wow this thread is expansive! *cough* But it's woken my inner-nerd-- I love doing this sort of thing. I used to do a lot of text-based journal games on GreatestJournal (and more recently InsaneJournal) and I'd help my friends find those perfect faces for their characters. *rubs hands together*
1. Firstly, I don't know if anyone has suggested her, but I could totally picture Romola Garai playing Ilyaine. Blonde haired, blue eyed, and she's just got this vibe about her. I absolutely adore her since she has such great expressions going all across the board of emotions.
Ilyaine
2. Hahaha, ohmygod, it was FATE that I found this image. Anyways, another choice I'd give out for either Leila or one of the Scotswomen (potentially Maire would be my first pick IMO) is Melanie Doutey. She's a french actress and, again, some good facial expressions. Maybe a better Leila than Maire? I'm undecided. Perhaps someone else? I mean, she's too cute NOT to include her in my list!
Hahaha, oh fate.
Tah-dah!
3. If Karoline Herfurth were a blonde, she's be absolutely perfect for Ogive. She's for the expressions and the freckles and the haughty looks! I can't recall Ogive's eye colour at the moment but worse came to worse she'd wear contact lenses
Ogive!
4. With the curls and the dark eyes and the zany expressions, I can't help but picture Simon Amstell as the Old Man all grown up.
Old Man!
5. Okay, again with the hair, but, honestly, Dougie Poynter could potentially pull off a Vash. Sure, he doesn't do brooding often enough, but he makes it up in being eye candy in that sort of slightly-punk rocker kind of way XD
Vash? Perhaps?
6. I've seen a lot (or maybe just a few? There are so many comments here) of suggestions for who should play Egelric. So of course I have to throw my two-cents in for the guy who has been one of my favourites, despite how he's acting now. My vote would go with Richard Armitage (best known at the moment for his role as Guy of Gisborne in the BBC's Robin Hood). I mean, COME ON, he's got the broody expressions, built body, AND the nose! Sure his coloring needs to be darker but otherwise he fits.
Egelric
7. I think Jodelle Ferland could make a great Paleia. Perhaps a bit of an older Leia but still, I saw her and my brain went to Leia. Sure, coloring's off but so are a few of my other suggestions.
Leia
Aaaaand, I think that's all I can think of now. I've been neglecting my reading to do this instead-- I'm such a bad student

Submitted by Lothere on Tue, 01/20/2009 - 12:17.That Egelric made my day. (Well, he and Barack Obama.) Very good eye on the Maire too. With Leila we could easily go more ethnic yet, but that's an excellent Maire.

Submitted by Lothere on Wed, 01/21/2009 - 05:06.Vash is hard to peg! It helps to see him smile:
He has a very Vashy smile, and everything below the eyes makes a nice Vash. However the eyebrows are a bit too much... they make him look naughty whereas Vash is just noble.
Those eyebrows are too good to waste though. I am not sure. Give him black hair and make him Cearball? Give him a pointy beard and make him Ris? (An interesting role to play...)
If you get him when he's not smiling...
I don't know? Dasi? Llen? For some reason I am thinking in terms of naughty elves. Tashnu? Oooh he could be good Tashnu too...
Yeah, Vash is a tough one.
Submitted by Cassie on Wed, 01/21/2009 - 22:21.Yeah, Vash is a tough one. Chace has a really good, Vash-y type chin.
And hooray for more Gossip Girl love! Chace is even more adorable in motion, too. My mom usually chuckles at my watching that show (I can't help it, it's such a fun guilty pleasure) and she came upon me watching it and said, "Wow. WHO is THAT? He is...really, really, really good-looking." I'm not usually one for pretty boys, but goddamn.
*Cough* Longer digression than I'd hoped. Anyhoodle, I'll just say again that I freaking love this thread a lot. You guys are all way too much fun.

Submitted by Vness on Sun, 02/22/2009 - 15:07.As much as I say I am not gooey-eyed over Vash, I cannot help but cast him with my all time favorite celebrity crush...Zac Efron. I believe Zac would pull off the role of Vash flawlessly. Perhaps then I will unconditionally fall into the Team Vash wagon.
I love Emma Watson, too, but I feel that her look matches Gwynn better, although that would be a complete waste of her intelligence to portray Gwynn's personality. Which unfortunately brings me to another tangent....(oh boy, here's yet another one of Vness's endless rambling..cover up your ears, children ...) Gwynn was one of my favorites growing up, and I had really high hopes for her... and then she shatters that hope with her persistent "how romantic" everything is, which completely baffles me. *shaking my head in disgust*
Anyway, back to the subject...yes, Zac Efron as Vash...hmm, that means Jenny will have to create The One for Vash, for we cannot let that perfection of a guy (Zac) go to waste (which most definitely may NOT be Iylaine). Now that I think about it, I want to see how Emma and Zac will be like onscreen together as a couple Yup, sounds like a winner! Actually, Zac could very well fit Finn's role, too. Dare I mention possibly Vanessa Hudgens might make a good Gwynn?
Malcolm wise, maybe Robert Pattinson? (Only because I'm currently obsessed with the Twilight saga and I have to see more of the hotness ) I would say Taylor Lautner because his coloring closer matches Malcolm, but Taylor is a bit on the young side, which unfortunately does not fit my vision of a mature Malcolm. As far as Iylaine goes, I was thinking Hilary Duff, but who knows? Maybe Kristen Stewart? She's certainly fair enough to look elfin. I just have a crazy thought of Orlando Bloom as Dunstan and Keira Knightley as Britamund and is now cracking up maniacally of the idea of having all my favorite celebrity couples in the cast. HEHEHEHE
I took one look at this
Submitted by Lothere on Sun, 02/22/2009 - 15:26.I took one look at this Robert Pattinson fellow
and thought "Cearball." I think the Malcolm nomination was indeed just a desire to see moar hotness.
What about Kraaia as The One for Vash? Am I going to have to do better than that??? Cassie I need backup!
As for Gwynn, did her recent snowheap-climbing escapades help a little? I think Gwynn's *HOW ROMANTIC* may be a bit of an act she's trying to keep up, while secretly she's a scamp. All it will take is one young gentleman mocking her *HOW ROMANTIC* until she falls scampily in love with the terrible unromanticness of him and his big scary nose.
Nice choice of avatar by the way. *snuggles Seven*

Submitted by Van on Sun, 02/22/2009 - 15:36.Personally, I kind of find Gwynn's obsession with romance rather refreshing. Like, I'm all for feminism and all that, but it seems to me like a lot of people these days don't really understand what feminism is, or was supposed to be, or they've totally blown it out of proportion. Like, I know so many girls who are all "men are so useless" and "we don't need men in the world", who call themselves "feminists", but if you ask me, feminism should really be more about equality between the two sexes. Like, not saying Gwynn needs a man, but it's nice to encounter a female character who would never in a million years think of swearing them off.
Of course, the Kingdom of Lothere is probably a much friendlier place for women than a real eleventh century kingdom would have been.
But that's just me. I have rather strange views of many things. I'm probably rather messed up as a result of nine years of pro-abstinence, sex-is-for-married-people-only private school, but I won't spam the forum with that story.

Although I would be extremely upset if he was to be casted as Cearball b/c I despise him. It would also take more than snow climbing to redeem Gwynn in my eyes. I think Finn would be good for her. I am quite adamantly against Kraaia for Vash. I know I keep saying I'm not crazy about Vash, but still, he deserves better than Kraaia. That is, unless Kraaia has a personality swipe. Personally, both of them have too much unhappiness to be happy together.

Submitted by Verity on Mon, 12/21/2009 - 13:18.Two things:
New Erik... in fact Alexander Skarsgård (Swedish hearthrob and son of famous actor Stellan) plays the hottest vampire ever in True Blood also called Erik. He is super tall and super hot and actually Nordic. And he can be super scary. But I have seen an interview and he knows how to smile and laugh even if he never does in True Blood except in a mean way. Omg... he is so hot I want to die. What is it about vampires?

And secondly that ridiculously buff manchild who plays Jacob in New Moon is my new vote for a slightly older Cedric :

http://www.hollywire.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/jacob.jpg
He is so giantly muscular for a 17 year old! His head looks way too small for his body. But that aside.., maybe Cedric will take after his muscular dad.

Although Cedric is somewhat better-looking, I think. He could be SO DREAMY if he got over his awkwardness a little bit.
Also - and I posted this before but I think it got eaten by the forum - Amanda Seyfried, perfect perfect Kraaia.

Submitted by Nimue on Wed, 12/23/2009 - 15:35.Well, now that this year's finals are also over, I feel completely non-guilty throwing more ideas out here. And these two were rather pleasant ideas.
Henry Cavill - Alright, I had to include this guy somewhere, and luckily he tends to be what I pictured either a younger Leofric as or, even more likely, an older Cedric:
Kris Holden-Ried - Actually both of these guys are on the Tudors, but I have only seen a couple of episodes of that. Still, he does have relatively piercing blue eyes though it may be hard to see, so I nominate him for Paul:
Besides, the scruff fits...in both cases.
Has anyone said Javier

He's some German soap star. I actually even used to watch the soap he's in until something like 10 years ago.

Dunno but he also wouldn't be misplaced I just saw him and some commercial about the fancomunity... Submitted by Lothere on Fri, 02/05/2010 - 12:38.So, this Daniel Fehlow fellow (teehee) has a wonderful big face, I wonder who he could be.... Godefroy maybe?
And Jörn is lovely. I am not sure... if he must play a major character I would say maybe Kiv? You're right, he would be a good elf. Have we found a good Vash yet?
Finn is great and even has the correct name already, but unfortunately his lips are all wrong. Finn's lips are so thin that Egelric thought it worth mentioning in the last chapter. And indeed, since he has his father's mouth, and since Gwynn has already expended much thought wondering whether it would be a good or bad thing to kiss such lips, I am sure the topic will come up again.
He does have a great nose however. We need lots of noses like that around here.

Submitted by Bekky on Tue, 10/12/2010 - 14:17.Hi everyone! Since I've caught up, I've been looking through the forums and this topic really caught my eye. I had a few ideas so I wanted to suggest them:
1. Blake Lively with ginger hair could be Colburga, I think she'd need more ginger hair though.
http://movies.msn.com/celebrities/celebrity-photos/blake-lively/?photo=1...
2. Gael García Bernal could play Andronikos. It's no major role but when I saw this picture, I immediately thought: Andronikos!
http://movies.msn.com/celebrities/celebrity-photos/gael-garc%C3%ADa-bern...
3. Rose McGowan for Maud? She's a lot older though, but her brown eyes are stunning, just like Maud's.
http://movies.msn.com/celebrities/celebrity-photos/rose-mcgowan/?photo=d...
4. Tina Fey for Githa Ashdown. Yes, she's a lot older than Githa too, but they share quite a few resemblances. The nose could be a little different but we didn't see Githa quite often in the story did we?
http://www.vivagoal.com/images/wallpapers/Tina-Fey-2.jpg
5. It occurred to me that Avril Lavigne could actually make a good Iylaine. I admit, she's not as pretty, yet there's something about her...Especially these two pictures:

Submitted by Cassie on Tue, 10/12/2010 - 14:57.Ooh great suggestions Bekky! I'm always happy to see this thread revived!
Avril Lavigne as Iylaine is a cool one! I agree that she isn't quite as pretty but there is definitely something elfin about her. And I love Gael Garcia Bernal in anything, always, so I heartily approve (especially as I love Andronikos, too.) He's done some gender-bending roles in the past so I think he'd do androgyny in a really cool way.
Love Rose McGowan as Maud. She has a really haughty, aristocratic quality to her but is also crazy beautiful. And Blake Lively has a cute sort of effortless brightness that could work for Colburga.

Submitted by Bekky on Tue, 10/12/2010 - 15:29.Thanks Cassie! I couldn't agree more about Gael Garcia Bernal! But Andronikos...well he creeps me out a bit. Have we actually had his POV in any chapters? There's quite a lot of depth in him isn't there? I can never tell what he's thinking, he's so unpredictable. But I suppose it's the whole impression from seeing him attack Kraaia, and be slightly too controlling of Irene.
This thread has been among my favorites for so long now, I had to resist the urge of reading too much into it, or commenting when I hadn't caught up and might end up looking a little stupid or finding a spoiler. Yet, if there is any thread deserving of revival - this is it!

I know she's a bit young and looks nothing like Gwynn but her comic timing would pull it off. She wrote her own lines in British comedy Outnumbered and has recently appeared in "The King's Speech"

Isn't the guy on the right
Submitted by acekay on Wed, 11/07/2012 - 14:37.Isn't the guy on the right a spitting image of Egelric? Pity he doesn't have the Nose... And that's such a Egelric smile too.
Ooh that's uncanny. And

Submitted by Stephanie on Mon, 11/12/2012 - 15:26.So generally I just lurk around here enjoying the story, but I came across this thread today and as a compulsive tele/movie caster no matter what I'm reading I was inspired to come out and say that I think Michelle Dockery would be really good as Maud.

I actually had this thought this a while ago -- back when I saw the first series of Downton Abbey -- but didn't know there was a place to share until today.
I'm watching Downton Abbey
Submitted by Tiffany on Tue, 11/13/2012 - 15:48.I'm watching Downton Abbey RIGHT NOW and I totally agree. She would make a lovely, daring Maud.
And Rose Byrne can play

I know its been a long time
Submitted by Artemis on Sun, 04/21/2013 - 21:46.I know its been a long time since anyone has posted on this forum, but my sister showed this to me and I just thought this was awesome! I love this kind of stuff! So here are a few people I came up with:
I was watching Lost and as soon as I saw Rebecca Mader I couldn't help but think Sadb:

And I'm not positive if I'm right about this one so disagree with me all you want but for some reason I keep thinking of Amy Nuttall for Sophie. For some reason I keep going between "Yes, that could totally work" and "She looks nothing like Sophie at all". I cannot make up my mind, so you tell me what you think:

Give me time and I could probably come up with a hundred more.
I am actually shocked that I

If I'm completely honest, I'm not sure Amy Nuttall as Sophie would work. She was in Downton Abbey for a couple of seasons, and while I know that actors are supposed to be versatile and stuff, I just can't see her pulling off the mischievous attitude (for want of a better phrase) we all know and love about Sophie.
Who does Rebecca Mader play on Lost? I can't access her picture and I've only watched some of Lost so I'm thinking this isn't someone I've heard of :p
Oh and because I didn't see this comment till now, Michelle Dockery could totally play Maud!
Yeah, you're probably right
Submitted by Artemis on Mon, 04/22/2013 - 05:20.Yeah, you're probably right on Amy Nutall (I wasn't totally sure about her). Rebecca Mader plays Charlotte Lewis in Lost, but she's only in a couple episodes so that's probably why you don't know her.
Yes, Michelle Dockery!!!
Submitted by Tiffany on Thu, 04/25/2013 - 17:29.Yes, Michelle Dockery!!!

I love this thread!
