Gils's family

Attention Devin, I know you have asked about this before...
Thanks to the ongoing Chapter Character Tagging Endeavor, I was finally obliged to create some family for Gils's mother, for her appearance with her uncle in "Dunstan attends an awkward meeting".
I ended up making her uncle be the weaver at Gaes-tun, Ercenberht; gave him a family and an older brother Defi, gave Defi a family, etc., and so on.
In the process I learned that Gils has as much Scottish blood as Egelric since his grandfather Defi was a Scot. (Though perhaps not of the same clan.)
Gils also has a number of living aunts, uncles, great-aunts and -uncles, cousins, and even a great-grandmother who still lives a ways out at Gold-maed. Apparently none of those people particularly want to get to know him, though.

Submitted by Van on Sun, 04/26/2009 - 15:26.Well, if Gils's mother's family doesn't want to meet him, then maybe he will eventually have to meet his father's family
It would be funny if he randomly met Dru somewhere and they just chilled for a few minutes, and then went their separate ways. Although I don't think Dru is really one for just "chilling", so it probably wouldn't happen.
I don't think Dru or Lar
Submitted by Lothere on Sun, 04/26/2009 - 15:30.I don't think Dru or Lar have much chill in their natures. I'm not sure Gils will either.
A meeting between Gils and either his father or grandfather could be quite interesting however. Possibly fatal. Or, possibly not. Lar had his chance to kill Gils once and didn't, just as Dru didn't kill Lar.

I've been wondering the same thing.

Submitted by Lothere on Mon, 04/27/2009 - 04:13.It wouldn't be a spoiler to say that Lar is the sort of guy who either broods on a thing, or manages to shut it completely out of his mind.
In Gils's case I suppose it would be the latter. No matter what his motivation for "loving" these elves as he does, Lar really does love them, and their welfare really is his priority. He doesn't spend as much time thinking about his precious self as Imin seems to think. And Gils is, at best, a shadowy off-shoot of his precious self -- and at worst, just a lump of genetic material he sloughed off a few years ago. In the words of Lar: "If I spit on the ground, do I call that my son?"
If Lar has any daddy instincts they're all currently absorbed by wee Seven.
