Your Very Own Nothelm Christmas

Just a bit of fun-- If you could host your very own Nothelm Christmas where you could only choose 8 guests (and these guests could be living or dead) who would they be? And whoever you choose has to be in the state of mind that we last found her in. For example, you couldn't choose pre-suicide attempt Alred or Egelric when Lili was living. Same goes for dead characters. If you choose Matilda, then you would be getting a chronically depressed Matilda. All current grudges and disputes also stand. That being said, here's my guest list:

1)Alred
2)Lili
3)Ogive
4)Vash (even in his current weird mood)
5)Caedwulf
6)The Captain!
7)Gwynn
Ralf

Let the drunken poetry discussion commence! Not that the Captain and Caedwulf would have much input on that subject. Maybe not Ogive either. But I still predict good times.

General Discussion

Wow those are some harsh ground rules Pen. At least you don't require the dead folks to show up in their burial shrouds.

For maximum fun I would choose the following cast:

1. Alred OBVIOUSLY
2. Lili
3. Vash, if he consents to have a drink or two and loosen up a bit
4. Eirik
5. Sigefrith
6. Either the Old Man or Gwynn, in charge of the wine jug
7. Cat
8. Fergus

That's definitely not the same list I would come up with if it was a question more like "What are the 8 people of Lothere you would most like to sit down and chat with", but it should be a fun party. Probably too "fun" for my tastes actually. I would have to attend from the shelter of Fergus's lap.

There are also some people who are fun in pairs (e.g. Fergus + Cian)... and it would be fun to invite K at the same time as Gwynn and watch Alred trying to suppress her every attempt to address him by his name... but those are rather funnier as situations than as personalities. So just for a fun party, I think that would be my 8.

Finn seated across from Gwynn would indeed guarantee some laughs, though it would probably end in tears and a party of 7.

A party with Larl? That just sounds... awkward, no matter what the guest list. He is way too angsty. Not even just angsty, I think he is too preoccupied with the catastrophic decline of his people to kick back and have a few beers with the Nothelm crowd. *pats Larl* It's tough being a warlord who's losing the war.

Osh might be fun too, but geez that poor elf needs an evening or two of quiet just to rest and recuperate.

I was thinking that too about Osh. He can come to the party after things have cooled down a bit for him! Then we can drink cider and make suggestive jokes (Flann being absent from the aforementioned party)...

Lar + Van = a very strange Nothelm Christmas indeed.

Sofie, Sophie is an EXCELLENT choice, and I'm sorry I forgot about her. "Pepper for parties" as Alred used to say. (If he doesn't still.)

Sir Malcolm is definitely on my "like to chat with" list but I'm not sure about him at a party. I don't think Malcolm is much of a "life of the party" type... he's the guy hanging back, keeping his alcohol consumption reasonable, and observing everybody else. It would be quite interesting, though, to attend a party with Malcolm where I got to sit in a shadowy alcove with him and listen to him give a commentary on the activities of the rest of the party-goers. (And if he got tired of talking we could... do something else.)

Margaret would be cool at a party too. She was awesome at the dinner with Blocky... "So, your dad still in prison?"

BWAAAAH Cassie you changed your vote. I was about to comment on Magog being an intriguing choice...

I would take Magog if I could have Ogive too, and sit them next to each other. I bet that would be hilarious to watch Magog casting Charm spell after Charm spell on her, and Ogive meeting them every time with her +5 Resistance to Charm. Magog would probably go away and cry, having concluded that he truly is a potbellied, graying old man who no longer has It.

Devin, no fair taking early Egelric. You have to take the Egelric of today. And only 8! If we get 10 I want to add Magog and Ogive.

Speaking of boys that are fun to make cry, I'd totally seat Cearball next to Sophie. Not that I'm changing my vote. *shifty eyes*

EDIT: By the way Van, Nothelm is YOUR castle for the night! You're the hostess. If you don't want the Seabrights there (although, I don't know who wouldn't) then they don't have to be there!

Yeah, I changed my vote...I thought Magog would be very interesting and fun to have at a Nothelm party, but then I thought of the potential awesome between Gwynn + Finn....but then again, we get plenty of that as it is...and I'd love to see how Gwynn reacts to Magog...
Guess it looks like I'm changing my vote back again.
Ferrrrrrgus is a good choice as well. I *love* that guy.
