Turning 20

Hey all I'm turning 20 this friday, and I'm feeling a bit melancholy. I'm happy I'm turning 20 closer to 21 but I'm a little sad as well. I won't be a teenager anymore my childhood is officially over. I remember 10 years ago, my sister and I were sitting in our living room and she said to me, "Your 10 now in 10 years your going to be 20. And those 10 years are going to fly by quickly," she was so right. SO what about some of you, what are you memories of turning 20?

Your time is only ever what you make of it, Devin (provided that the events are within your control) so don't sweat it. Think of this as your second childhood. Middle age can be your third.

I will be 25 soon and 20 already seems like it was so far away. Actually, I don't even remember my 20th birthday... but I know that year was pretty good. I made some of my best friends at that time. To me, the 20's seems a lot like being a teenager. Even though I'm older, everything is still changing so quickly. In these 5 years I've already been in five different states, met so many new people, and changed a lot myself... I'm sure you'll enjoy it

I don't remember turning 20 at all. It must have been quite boring. I must have been in a hurry to turn 20 because I was always the youngest in my class, the youngest at my job, etc. I always wanted to be older. But overall I think turning 20 is a lot less significant a moment in terms of growing up than getting out of college and being forced to actually DO SOMETHING. (Note I didn't say graduate, since I didn't do that till I was 29.
)
And as for not being a kid anymore... I am pretty sure I still am.
A kid that has surly political discussions, but a kid nonetheless.

Sorry to be late, but I'm superstitious too, and the timezones confuse me a lot.
I remember how it was when I turned 20, but I'm only 23 since a few weeks ago, so it really isn't that hard. ^^
As I recall I felt a lot like you do, Devin. I was dreading my birthday for months, while asking myself what the hell I had done with my time. You never know what you have until it's gone, sad but true.
My birthday itself wasn't so big a deal in the end. I couldn't even have the party I'd planned, because the day before I had an almost-collision with a car. ^^ I was darn lucky, because it only grazed me. I still ripped all the ligaments in my right foot and was a hair away from a fraktured ankle, so I spent my birthday in bed, reading my favorite books. Not too bad a day for me. ^^
I don't know about you, but I notice that I make make a bigger fuss about things than they are worth. So it was with any birthday since about 15. ^^ I never felt any different afterwards. I still feel 17 at the most and my sister, who's two years younger than me, is a lot more grown up than I'll probably ever be. ^^
