Lady Sela guilty over Iylaine?
Submitted by Devin on Sat, 11/07/2009 - 06:47.
Did she ever feel guilty or sad that Iylaine couldn't live with Egelric as a result of her?

Probably. Egelric was
Submitted by Lothere on Sat, 11/07/2009 - 07:15.Probably. Egelric was visibly heartbroken over that. She had a cruel streak, but she seemed to love Egelric, and she didn't seem like the type who would be so callous as to think "You made your bed, now you have to lie in it."
However, it seems like the kind of thing that she would think about whenever they "argued". I don't know how they argued, since she couldn't talk, but they must have. I cannot imagine life with Egelric without the occasional explosion, especially since he was under such a strain at that time. So I can imagine the occasional thought that creeps into a married person's mind... "If I had never married you... you would have had your precious Iylaine, and I would have had my voice, you surly bastard."
But I admit I never knew her very well.
The only person who knew
Submitted by Devin on Sat, 11/07/2009 - 07:25.The only person who knew Sela well was Sela herself.
Very interesting, it must have been frustrating for Sela not being able to yell back at Egelric if he had yelled at her. But those pictures showing the love and tension is excellent.
Sela had a cruel streak?

Submitted by Lothere on Mon, 11/09/2009 - 16:18.We talked about that in the chat one day. Sela was cruel to Imin, who was DEAD GONE on her. The "ugly little troll" remark he has sarcastically used to describe himself is actually the cry of a wounded heart: it's what Sela called him once, years ago. *wipes tear* She was just using him for poetry purposes.
Dang. How'd I miss that? So
Submitted by Tiffany on Mon, 11/09/2009 - 16:31.Dang. How'd I miss that?
So what was the general gist of the conversation?
Uh, the chat conversation,
Submitted by Lothere on Mon, 11/09/2009 - 16:41.Uh, the chat conversation, or the conversation where Sela says "AS IF I would ever care about you, you ugly little troll!"
She didn't actually say it to his face. He overheard her making fun of him to Aia, probably after she thought he was gone or something. So he learned that not only did she mock him, but that all this time she despised him while pretending to like him, just so he would sing her songs. That was shortly before she hooked up with Egelric.
Just an icky situation all around, really. Smarmy Imin being SO! IN LOVE! And Sela totally using him and making fun of him behind his back. And Llen playing wingman and absenting himself with the 11-year-old cripple girl he pretended to abhor and who he now is SO! IN LOVE! with. And makes a baby with in a rapey way. I need a stock of Handi-Wipes and Clorox just to write about these people.

Submitted by Tiffany on Mon, 11/09/2009 - 16:54.Wow.
That is some serious backstory.
I know now that I really, really didn't know who the heck Sela was outside of the context of Egelric. Was she some kind of hot tamale among her peers?
Yes, because she was a poet,
Submitted by Lothere on Mon, 11/09/2009 - 17:06.Yes, because she was a poet, and daughter of the famous rebel-poet with the silky mustache.
So what was so special

Submitted by Lothere on Mon, 11/09/2009 - 17:36.I have written hundreds of chapters explaining what is so special about Egelric. NEED I SAY MORE??
Egelric is one of those guys you will either find captivating or not. If not, no amount of 'splaining will make you understand.
And apparently Sela fell
Submitted by Tiffany on Mon, 11/09/2009 - 17:40.And apparently Sela fell into the former camp.
Now I'm curious about Sela's background and everything before that chance meeting in the woods..
I'm curious about Lady
Submitted by Devin on Thu, 11/12/2009 - 19:40.I'm curious about Lady Sela's past too. We kind of got a gist of what married life and motherhood was for her in my birthday post.
Aw, poor creepy rapey Imin.
Submitted by Cassie on Thu, 11/12/2009 - 21:34.Aw, poor creepy rapey Imin. That sucks. And it also makes me think of 20th century Imin...the smarmy car salesman with the gold chains, dedicating Top 40 songs to the bohemian poet who will never ever hear them. *Snf*
I did get the sense that Sela had a bit of a dark streak (as opposed to, say, Lena, who was pretty much all pure sweetness.) You would kind of have to be, to be a poet and rebel like she was.

Looking back on it before
Submitted by Devin on Mon, 02/14/2011 - 21:28.Looking back on it before Egelric moved into the castle did he ever get the chance to do the 1 thing he always wanted to do, farming? I wonder if that would make him happy living in a house with his kids and tending to the farm..
He was more or less farming
Submitted by Lothere on Tue, 02/15/2011 - 05:30.He was more or less farming when he was living with Sela.
