This link was posted to the Sim Haven community on LiveJournal. I seem to remember you talking about wanting to try NaNoWriMo but not wanting to give up writing Lothere for a month, so I figured I'd post it here:
It's not as big as NaNoWriMo, obviously (seems it only had a couple dozen participants last year), but if you're looking for that sort of challenge without actually starting a new work and taking time off from the story, it might be worth looking into.

I can't think of what I could propose as a challenge for myself, though. It isn't as if I fritter away my free time and wish I could force myself to work on my story more. So it couldn't be something like "write 3 chapters a week", because if my schedule allowed that I would do it already.
I would have to be a little more creative with the challenge... something like "never write two chapters in a row from the same POV" or "write at least 1 chapter a week from the POV of a person who has appeared in less than 5 chapters" or whatever.
Or make my month-of-August challenge be "Fix Hetty and Alred's marriage." That would be more challenging by far than 3 chapters a week.
In the latter case all I would have to do is sleep less.
