Thanks to Alex’s valiant efforts to use a STRIKE tag*, I noticed that my comment HTML filter didn’t even allow it, in spite of the tag’s great comedic potential. I also noticed that I have been quite coy with my filter in the first place, since I never even told you what tags are allowed.
Therefore I added the list of acceptable HTML tags to my list of smileys, both accessible with one click to the “Show list of Smileys and allowed Html Tags” link that appears just above the comment form, and also right here.
Just be aware that my comment filter is even more anal and unforgiving than I am, to keep nasty hackers from spoiling my day by putting broken and/or dangerous HTML into my comments. So unless you’re logged in and prepared to edit a few times, make sure you know how to use the HTML tag you’re trying to use, or just stick to the old stand-bys like <i> and <b>. Alternatively, just USE ALL-CAPS and swear words and LOL-speak and lots of smileys. It works for me most of the time!
* There’s still no STRIKE tag though. It’s deprecated in XHTML, so you’re left with the equally hilarious DEL tag instead. So let the shits and giggles** fun begin.
** If you want me to kick you in the teeth, use “just for shits and giggles” in a sentence. I can’t help it. It’s like a reflex. ***
***This is my blog and I’ll say what I want dammit!
"Just for sh-"
Ow. I felt that. Hard.
